Baja Bills, Cabramatta

We always love a good food truck and even better when it’s fairly local! Baja Bills Food Truck aims to bring authentic California Mexican food to western Sydney, located in Cabramatta opposite the police station. With the 40 degree heat no longer here and spoiling our plans, we headed there last weekend to see if Baja lives up to the hype.

Location: 230 Cabramatta Rd, Cabramatta NSW 2166

Surf and Turf Loaded Fries $16 for small

James: 4 out of 5 – It’s not easy to find good tacos in Sydney, but Baja Bills hits the spot.

It’s super exciting seeing something new and different appear locally, especially in Cabramatta where it’s dominated with Vietnamese food. And Baja Bills did not disappoint! I really enjoyed the tacos, the flavours of guac, salsa, sour cream were awesome and gave me the closest reminder to tacos in America in a longggg time. The beef taco is definitely a winner versus the chicken, although they were both a bit overcooked, the beef had great flavor and that bit of charring you always like.

Only criticism is that the flavors in the burrito were exactly the same as the taco and the loaded fries, just in burrito shape. The burrito was certainly generous in serving size and you’d get most bang for your buck here but without it being too different to the tacos and the loaded fries (same sauces, meat), the meal got pretty repetitive. No beans nor rice which was instead substituted with chips, meant we felt like we were eating the same thing 3 times.

Overall though I still enjoyed it and would recommend visiting, definitely share with a few friends for a good time.

$12 for 3 tacos

Melissa: 3.5 out of 5 – The flavour pairings were authentic and delicious but felt repetitive

The highlight of Baja Bills for me was the burrito – a large, hefty beast that was definitely bang for your buck. Whilst missing the rice and beans, the burrito had all the authentic Tex Mex flavours you look for, creamy guacamole, fresh tomato salsa and cheesy goodness. It was definitely a large burrito, enough for one person’s meal if you are in the area and in search for a satisfying lunch.

The tacos and surf and turf loaded fries were also good but a repeat of the same flavours in the burrito. I would’ve liked to see some fish tacos or perhaps a pulled beef/pork style taco. I found the beef in the tacos, burrito and surf and turf more flavourful but also slightly overcooked and dry. When eaten with the delicious trinity of guacamole, sour cream and salsa, the stringy beef was less obvious, but when hit with a mouthful of just beef I found it a tad unpleasant to eat.

Overall a nice joint to visit if you are in the area, definitely not something I would travel for.
