Flour Eggs Water, Forest Lodge

With restaurants and businesses opening back up, the Feeds crew were hankering for some pasta, so it was only right we visited one of our favourite spots at the Tramsheds. Located in Forest Lodge, the Tramsheds is an industrial style food precinct that has taken over the Rozelle Tram Depot. If you’re in the area, it’s worth swinging by to grab a feed and go for a view-worthy walk along Rozelle Bay, featuring plenty of dogs along the way 😂

Location: 1 Dalgal Way, Forest Lodge NSW 2037

What we ordered: Pappardelle ($34), Agnolotti ($34), Special – Fish of the Day ($36), Foccacia ($1 per slice)

Pappardelle with lamb ragu

James: 4.5 out of 5A great place for pasta, the Pappardelle is a standout and one of my all-time favourite pastas.

Flour Eggs Water keeps me coming back and mostly off back of the pappardelle. It is so damn good – the flavours of the sauce, texture of the pasta and tenderness of the meat – whether beef or lamb, just makes for such a delicious combo. If I had to pick, I’d choose the beef but you cannot go wrong with either so this is a must order if you go. Portion size may not be reflective of the price tag ($34) but add on one or two more dishes to share so you don’t leave hungry.

The agnolotti looked great on the plate but was my least favourite dish of the meal. Texture of the pasta was great so the cooking process is doing something right, but personally the squid flavor and filling didn’t work that well for me and after eating the pappardelle, the agnolotti faced tough comparison. Would not get this dish again in future.

Fish of the Day

Lastly, the Fish of the Day was a delicious white fillet, plated on a bed of juicy onion and peppers. Fish was cooked to perfection and the skin was very crispy. The flavours really stood out from the veges underneath and it was a great complement to the pasta. I’ll be honest, I’m not sure what the green sauce was but it tasted great and worked well with the fish to round out the dish!

We highly recommend visiting Flour Eggs Water to try their pasta – they’ve got a few locations: Tramsheds, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and Bondi Beach. Expect to spend some coin however, as the prices aren’t kind but it may be well worth it if you’re picking the right dishes (pappardelle 😉). Grab some family or friends and definitely share so that you can try as many dishes as possible.
