Mister Gee’s, North Strathfield

In this post we return to Sydney’s favourite (and OG) burger joint/food truck – Mister Gee’s, whose burgers have been our constant companions since we started out in our University days as budding food bloggers. The Mister Gee food truck now spans across two locations in Sydney, with the food track still located in its original location in Haberfield, and a newer branch operating out of the Conservatorium cafe in North Strathfield, now with tables and seating!

Location: Mister Gee Burger Truck (North Strathfield), 16 George St, North Strathfield NSW 2137
What we ordered: OG Truffle, Cheese Boogie, Takeshi Kaga (burgers $13-$15), Truffle ($8) & Plain Fries ($5)

James: 4.5 out of 5 – One of the best beef burgers in Sydney, a must try for any burger lover.

It’s been a few years since I’ve had Mister Gee’s but I can say with certainty that it remains one of the top tier beef burgers in all of Sydney. While waiting in line, the smell of beef patties cooking on the fryer was triggering my craving for a solid burger and it did not disappoint. I had the Takeshi Kaga and it was delicious; a well rounded combo of flavors from the juicy beef patty, iron chef sauce, and blackberry onions ensured the burger was balanced, not too sweet nor salty. I appreciate any burger with lettuce in it so I’m glad I picked the Takeshi which featured a generous oakleaf (and since other options like the Cheese Boogie skipped the greens), and the brioche bun was fluffy and golden as they should be – see pic above!

The shoestring fries are top notch and well salted, I’ll admit I had more than my fair share of the 4-person split 😉 I’m still conflicted on the truffle fries as I’m unsure whether I like the truffle sauce. It’s sweet and salty at the same time and quite overpowering in its taste, would prefer if it came on the side as dipping sauce. I will let you be the judge on this one. Overall highly recommend Mister Gee’s, especially the North Strathfield location since it has proper tables and seating (however limited due to COVID).

Melissa: 4.5 (or even 5) out of 5 – Still one of my favourite burgers in Sydney and the benchmark for when I review other burgers. Always consistently good and their new creations add a refreshing twist each time you visit.

With the North Strathfield location now much closer to home, I’ve been a frequent visitor at Mister Gees. OG Truffle is up there amongst my favourite burgers and it delivered on all aspects: great brioche bun, perfectly pink meat with an outside crunch, and of course the underlying truffle aroma to tie it all together. Not sure if my taste buds have evolved some what, but I did find it a touch too sweet now (with the caramelised onions).

The newest burger, the Takeshi Kaga was absolutely delicious as well. Sauce was what we can expect of Mister Gees – a perfect burger sauce, both salty and cheesy. The lettuce added a refreshing touch, making it an all round balanced burger. Sadly, not on their current rotation anymore, but one of the most well rounded burgers, and will definitely please any taste buds!

Cannot recommend Mister Gee’s enough (if you can’t tell I’m a massive fan of their creations).
